Dear Parents / Guardians
We give honour and glory to Almighty God for his grace that made us all survive the COVID – 19 pandemic and the economic hardship that came with it. The 2nd term of the 2020/2021 session ends today, March 26th 2021. We are sending the children home to you for the Easter vacation, please use this period to play your role of guiding and inculcating desired attributes in them. Below are highlights of the activities carried out this 2nd term.
2020 SENIOR SCHOOL CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (SSCE) The 2020 SSCE result conducted by NECO has been released. Ray Jacobs Boarding School again put up a very wonderful performance – a 100% pass, which is better than the NECO results of previous years.
INTERNAL ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES Students are to access their 2nd Term results online from 31st March, 2021. In line with this directive, the SSS1 students should access their first term examination results since they did not sit for it with others at the end of last term due to the BECE that was conducted by the Imo State Ministry of Education. This had been written in the second week of this term. SAT REGISTRATION Registration is on for the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) – an American based examination body like JAMB in Nigeria, for gaining university admission in the USA. The cost of the registration is $170 (One Hundred and Seventy Dollars) and the closing date for the registration is 16th April, 2021 while the examination is schedule for May 8, 2021. DISCIPLINE The school is now more determined to enforce strict discipline than ever. We have noticed that cases of indiscipline continue to grow among the students. Some students were punished for watching movies and playing games during the online classes. Parents are humbly requested to caution their children/wards over any act(s) of indiscipline. It should be pointed out that the school rules and regulations must be obeyed and that they are actually meant for the students, teachers and parent. Encourage your children/wards to be bold to report cases of bullying, molestation, maltreatment, or any display of violence to the appropriate authorities in the school.
CO - CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES Due to COVID -19 Pandemic, our annual inter- house sports competition was replaced by the intra – house sports competition held on 27th February, 2021. In the course of this, the Green house emerged the winner while the Blue house became the runners up. Yellow house took the third place and Red house, the fourth. Other activities like end of term excursions, Inter- school competitions (Academics and Sports), could not take place. We will watch the development of this dreaded pandemic in the coming term and work with its pace. This will determine whether or not to go ahead with the oversea summer trip / camping, summer / long vacation programmes. RESUMPTION OF SCHOOL The third term of 2020/2021 academic session will resume on Monday 12th April, 2021 for SSS3 and they are to return to school on Sunday 11th April, 2021 between 12:00 – 6:00pm. JSS1 – SSS2 are resuming on Monday 3rd May, 2021 and they are to return to school on Sunday 2nd May, 2021. As usual, prohibited items will not be allowed and/or may be confiscated. All students must be accompanied by Parent(s) / Guardian(s) or an adult(s) approved by their parents. Acceptance of a student depends on presentation of evidence of payment of school fees. NB: Students will only be checked-in during weekends. This means that if a child failed to resume on the Sunday of resumption, he/she will only be received into the school the following Saturday/Sunday.
